Born 03 January in Gboko, Benue State, was called to the Nigerian Bar in September, 1999 with Second Class Upper Honours. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he obtained a Diploma-in-Law, 1989 and LL.B. (Hons), in 1997. He is also a certified digital forensics examiner. Mr. Tyendezwa was in corporate private practice from year 2000 until July 2005 when he joined the Federal Ministry of Justice.
He has trained in Investigation of Economic Offences & Cybercrimes, Computer Forensics for Intellectual Property & Other White Collar Crimes, Cybercrime Legislation Capacity Development, Electronic Crimes & Fraud Management, and Data Protection & Privacy policy implementation amongst other areas of interest both locally and internationally.
He has a wealth of experience covering cybercrime policy and prosecution, cybersecurity & global digital infrastructure policy, internet governance, data protection & privacy policy and legislation, international cooperation in criminal matters, electronic evidence and digital forensics.
He’s served as a Member, Ministerial Committee to Review Bills Impacting on National Security, 2012, Member, ECOWAS Technical Committee on Legal and Judicial Affairs/Experts for Drafting the ECOWAS Directive on Fighting Cybercrime, 2011. Member, ONSA Committee on Cybersecurity Legislation in Nigeria, 2011, and has received national commendation for service on the Interagency Committee on National Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy Development, in May 2015. Was selected as a NAGTRI (www.naag.org/nagtri) International Fellow, 2013.
He is currently a Member of the Commonwealth’s Virtual Currencies Expert Working Group (VCEWG) and the Group of Experts on the Review of the Commonwealth Model Law on Computer and Computer Related Crime, appointed the Coordinator of the ECOWAS Cybercrime Justice Network (ECJN) and recently, spearheaded work on the Data Protection Act, 2019. Recently appointed as a Member of the GCA Global Law Enforcement Advisory Board.
He’s also a member of the International Association of Prosecutors (www.iap-association.org ), the Society of International Economic Law (www.sielnet.org) and the Computer Forensics Institute, Nigeria (www.computerforensicsinstitutenigeria.org ), an alumnus of the International Anti-Corruption Academy (www.iaca.int ), USTTI (www.ustti.org) and has been conferred the award of Chevalier du Cybercrime by the Ordre du Merite de Budapest under the ambit of the (Budapest) Convention on Cybercrime.
