About the Program

Substance misuse disorder has as much of an effect in the workplace as the home.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health data show that 95% of deaths in 2017 linked to drug overdose were of working-age people. Beyond the human toll, substance misuse results in lost productivity, higher caregiver and dependent costs, increased medically related absenteeism, and skyrocketing disability costs.

At the same time, researchers have found employment contributes to substance misuse disorder treatment success. Studies even indicate that for people in recovery, employment may be an effective relapse prevention measure. So, while employers suffer from the consequences of substance misuse disorder, they also have the power to shape treatment and recovery outcomes.

Join us on January 19 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. CT for a series of conversations about best practices for employer-led substance misuse solutions.

You will hear from national experts and members of your own community about creating drug-free workplaces, building effective employee assistance programs, working with benefit providers, and much more.

We will also explore new complicating factors resulting from COVID-19, and how your business can respond to these new challenges

About Sharing Solutions

Sharing Solutions was created by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation in 2019 to provide employer resources and showcase innovative solutions to the opioid crisis.

We work to identify resource needs and then aggregate, synthesize, and feature resources in an accessible way for the people who need them most.

We believe that business is part of the solution. Businesses are a vehicle to help solve this crisis. Together, we can make a difference and save lives.
