Jen Lawrence is a Program Director at The J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Foundation, where she leads philanthropic investments and initiatives that strengthen communities across the Washington, DC region. Known for her collaborative approach, Jen partners with leading nonprofits and institutions to address pressing challenges in health equity, food security, and community development. She also oversees the Foundation’s career mobility body of work, advancing opportunities for the next generation of hospitality leaders through strategic partnerships with academic institutions and workforce organizations.

Previously, Jen served as Director of Community Engagement and Government Relations for the Washington Convention and Sports Authority (t/a Events DC)—an economic engine for the hospitality and tourism industry in the District of Columbia, driving growth, innovation, and community benefits for the city. In this role, Jen advised the President and CEO on legislative, policy, and industry matters. She also revitalized the organization’s community engagement strategy and led its $1 million community grants program, expanding investments in nonprofits serving underserved youth throughout the District.

Jen began her career in public service as Deputy Chief of Staff at the Council of the District of Columbia. She subsequently held roles in external affairs, government relations, and philanthropy with the DC Office of Motion Picture and Television Development, M.C. Dean, Inc., and the M.C. Dean Charitable Foundation.

A proud native Washingtonian, Jen brings a deep appreciation for the city’s history, people, and potential, along with an enduring commitment to building a more vibrant and equitable community. She serves on the board of DC Central Kitchen and is a member of Leadership Greater Washington.

Jen graduated with honors from Temple University with a B.A. in Psychology. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, live music, scenic walks, exploring local art, and spending quality time with her son, Jacob.
