The undersigned chambers of commerce, representing businesses small and large across the United States, urge you to prioritize passage of H.R. 8870, the Building Unrivaled Infrastructure and Long-term Development for America's 250th Act (BUILD America 250 Act). This legislation enjoys broad, bipartisan support for its important investments in our nation’s surface transportation network – the foundation of our economy, competitiveness, and quality of life.

The BUILD America 250 Act includes $474.4 billion in guaranteed funding for the maintenance and construction of our nation’s roads, bridges, railroads, transit systems, and ports, which support safe and efficient trade, travel, and tourism in our communities. Further, the bill includes important reforms to the reviews and permitting of new transportation projects, which will help deliver critical infrastructure with fewer delays and at lower cost. It also includes the first meaningful effort to provide new revenue sources for the Highway Trust Fund, essential to the long-term sustainability of federal infrastructure investments. Finally, this legislation provides valuable certainty to States, local governments, transit agencies, and private-sector partners in planning, financing, and delivering major surface transportation projects, which helps employ millions of Americans.

The BUILD America 250 Act is a strong, bipartisan start to the reauthorization process. We stand ready to work with you, the Senate, and the Trump Administration to see a strong surface transportation reauthorization enacted this year.
