The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council has been instrumental in advancing economic and commercial cooperation between the United States and Kazakhstan. In June 2023, the Council led its first business delegation to Almaty and Astana for a trade mission certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce. This delegation, consisting of more than 20 U.S. companies, engaged in consultations with Kazakhstan’s government to bolster trade and investment and help U.S. companies realize strategic projects aligned with Kazakhstan’s reform agenda. The delegation participated in significant events in Astana, including President Tokayev’s Foreign Investment Council meeting and the Astana International Forum, aiming to advance Kazakhstan’s economic diversification in sectors such as technology, agriculture, aviation, infrastructure, and mining.
The U.S.-Kazakhstan Business Council, established in 2020, focuses on supporting initiatives and needed reforms that contribute to the economic pillar of the U.S. strategy for Central Asia. The Council works to enhance bilateral trade and investment, leveraging high-level meetings, policy advocacy, business missions, market intelligence, and networking to help U.S. companies expand their presence in Kazakhstan. The Council is housed within the Middle East, Turkey, and Central Asia Affairs Department and collaborates closely with the American Chamber of Commerce in Kazakhstan.
