Industry-Led Postsecondary Initiatives (Hosted by the American Institute for Research)
Description: To strengthen students’ pathways through postsecondary education and into in-demand careers, employers and colleges must work more closely together. Industry-led public-‒private partnerships have tremendous potential to build and grow these employer‒college relationships, but little information is available on these partnerships and their postsecondary initiatives. This project aims to fill this gap and foster the growth of these initiatives by highlighting the features of industry-led public‒private partnerships’ initiatives with postsecondary institutions and providing lessons and opportunities for developing, sustaining, and scaling these initiatives.

Apprenticeships & Diversifying the Workforce (hosted by Apprenti)
Description: Unlocking economic mobility through apprenticeships is a key strategy to diversify the workforce and bridge our domestic talent gap. The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration, under the American Rescue Plan, is funding the Good Jobs Challenge to boost regional economies, foster inclusive recovery, and create access to high-paying jobs in emerging and non-traditional sectors. Apprenticeships play a pivotal role in achieving these goals. This discussion explores the impact created by the grant in tech talent recruitment, its potential to reduce apprenticeship program delivery costs by over 60%, and how it aids in creating a new talent pipeline for companies to access diverse talent.

Join General Assembly and Interapt to discuss how they are supporting employers to focus on skills-based hiring to achieve economic mobility and how and why apprenticeships can build long-term career pathways for essential company roles, not only in tech but across industries in your community.
Reaching Opportunity Populations (hosted by the Lumina Foundation)
Description: Many business leaders and their education partners have identified workforce diversity and equity as a key priority for growth and innovation. However, the recent Supreme Court decision on race-based admission policies in higher education – along with new laws in some states restricting DEI activities at colleges – may make it harder for partnerships to focus explicitly on racial disparities in designing talent pipelines. This discussion will focus on how employers and other TPM partners are navigating this landscape and finding new ways to reach opportunity populations.
